Muay Thai is built on respect, discipline, fairness and warrior spirit. Every fighter who steps into the ring deserves a fair opportunity to compete and confidence in the judging process.
As Muay Thai continues to grow around the world, professional systems that protect athletes and maintain the integrity of competition have become more important than ever. One of those systems under Golden Mongkhon is the Video Review Process.
Golden Mongkhon recently reshared this process publicly as a reminder to fighters, coaches, officials and promoters. This is not a new rule. The organisation already established this procedure under existing Golden Mongkhon regulations.
Why the Video Review System Exists
Judges and officials work with professionalism, experience and responsibility. However, human error can happen in any sport around the world.
Golden Mongkhon introduced the Video Review system to give fighters a professional and respectful way to raise concerns when they believe a scoring error may have affected the result.
The system supports an important principle:
Fighters deserve the right to question decisions through a disciplined and structured process.
At the same time, Golden Mongkhon also protects the sport from emotional misuse of that right. For this reason, the organisation follows clear regulations that maintain fairness, professionalism and accountability for everyone involved.
Golden Mongkhon Video Review Rules
1. Video Review is Accepted Only for Split Decisions
Golden Mongkhon accepts Video Review requests only for fights that end by split decision.
A split decision already shows that judges had different opinions about the bout. In such situations, a review process can help strengthen confidence in the final result.
The organisation will not accept Video Review requests for:
- Unanimous decisions
- Knockouts
- Referee stoppages
- Clear fight outcomes
2. Video Review is Not Allowed for Final Fights
Golden Mongkhon does not allow Video Review requests for championship finals or tournament final matches.
Final fights carry championship importance and event pressure. The organisation keeps final results official once announced in order to maintain event structure, competitive stability and professional championship operations.
This rule helps preserve the integrity of major championship events.
3. Written Application and 100 USD Review Fee are Mandatory
Teams must submit the following to apply for a Video Review:
- A written application letter
- A review fee of 100 USD
- “Organisers have a freedom to reduce the fees but not less than 60 USD”
This process ensures that team’s video request reviews rather professionally and responsibly than emotionally after close contests.
Golden Mongkhon divides the collected amount among:
- The three officials involved in the Video Review scoring process
- A witness representative from another coach or audience side
- Golden Mongkhon management and operations
This structure supports transparency and accountability throughout the review process.
4. Golden Mongkhon Announces Results Quickly
Golden Mongkhon aims to complete the review process:
- On the same day, or
- By the following day
Quick decisions help avoid unnecessary delays in rankings, tournament progression and athlete preparation.
Fast and organised decision-making remains an important part of professional combat sports management.
5. Different Review Results Lead to a Rematch
If the Video Review produces a different result from the original decision, both fighters will compete in:
A 3-Minute, 1-Round Rematch
Golden Mongkhon believes fighters should ultimately decide the result inside the ring through competition.
Instead of changing outcomes only through technical discussion, the organisation gives both athletes another opportunity to settle the contest fairly through action.
This approach protects both fairness and the spirit of Muay Thai.
6. Refusal or Unfitness Favours the Opponent
If a fighter:
- Refuses the rematch, or
- Cannot compete because of unfitness for any reason,
Golden Mongkhon will award the result to the opposite fighter.
This rule prevents misuse of the Video Review system and protects competitive fairness.
Building Higher Standards in Modern Muay Thai
As Muay Thai continues to expand globally, organisations must create systems that protect athletes, officials, promoters and the integrity of competition.
Around the world, combat sports organisations are moving toward more transparent and accountable structures. Golden Mongkhon continues to develop regulations that reflect those modern standards while still respecting the traditions and warrior values of Muay Thai.
The Video Review system represents part of that long-term vision.
The goal is not to create conflict between fighters and officials. The goal is to create a professional pathway where genuine concerns can be reviewed fairly, responsibly and transparently.
By balancing athlete rights with disciplined regulations, Golden Mongkhon continues to support the credibility, fairness and growth of Muay Thai across all levels of competition.
The Warrior Spirit Also Means Fairness
In Muay Thai, fighters earn victory through skill, discipline, heart and respect.
A strong sport must also handle difficult moments professionally and fairly.
The Golden Mongkhon Video Review system does not challenge the authority of officials. Instead, it strengthens trust in the sport and the judging process.
As Muay Thai continues to grow internationally, Golden Mongkhon remains committed to building professional systems that respect both tradition and modern sporting standards.
True leadership in combat sports is not only about creating champions inside the ring — it is also about building systems that protect the future of the sport itself.
A Step Toward Stronger Global Muay Thai Standards
Golden Mongkhon continues to build systems that support fairness, accountability, athlete protection and professional competition standards in modern Muay Thai.
The Video Review process reflects that commitment.
By creating structured regulations for dispute review while maintaining discipline and respect for officials, Golden Mongkhon aims to strengthen trust in the sport at every level of competition.
As Muay Thai grows across different countries and competitive platforms, strong governance and transparent systems will play an important role in protecting both athletes and the integrity of the sport.
Golden Mongkhon remains committed to contributing toward that future through professional standards, responsible leadership and continuous development of Muay Thai worldwide.
