Revised Youth Competition Rules

Golden Mongkhon International announces updated amateur competition rules for youth divisions. These changes strengthen athlete safety, improve skill development, and support the long-term growth of Muay Thai.


Updated Youth Competition Rules

After reviewing current practices and consulting coaches, officials, and experts, Golden Mongkhon International introduces the following rules:

Junior Amateur Division (Ages 10 to Under 14 Years)

  1. All strikes to the head and face are strictly prohibited.
    – This rule includes punches, kicks, knees, and elbows to face level.

Youth Amateur Division (Ages 14 to Under 18 Years)

  1. In this category, punches and kicks to the face are allowed.
    – However, knees and elbows to the face remain strictly prohibited.

Adult Amateur Division (Ages 18+ Years)

  1. In this category, Safety Equpment has been modified.
    – Head guard, Elbow guard, Shin guard, Gloves, Gum shield, Groin guard (Chest guard has been removed)

Implementation & Compliance

These rules come into effect from 18 April 2026.

From this date, all affiliated federations, associations, promoters, gyms, officials, and event organisers must follow these regulations. In addition, they must ensure proper enforcement at every sanctioned event.

These updates focus on three key goals:

    First, the rules reduce the risk of head injuries among young athletes.
  • Skill Development
    Next, they encourage better control, technique, and discipline during training and competition.
  • Global Standardisation
    Finally, they align youth competition rules across all affiliated organisations worldwide.

Enforcement

Golden Mongkhon International will strictly monitor compliance.
If any organisation fails to follow these rules, it may face sanction suspension, or disqualification from sanctioned events.
