A Sudden Turn of Events
What began as an exciting event in Kerala took an unexpected turn due to severe weather conditions. Torrential rains and devastating landslides claimed over 300 lives, leaving the state in turmoil. With bus and train services canceled by both the Kerala and Karnataka governments, it became impossible for many fighters and fans to travel. We had to act fast to find a solution.
Making the Tough Call: Moving to Bengaluru
Faced with this crisis, we had two choices: cancel the event or relocate it. Prioritizing the safety of everyone involved, we decided to move the championship to Bengaluru. This decision was not easy, especially with just two days to secure a new venue.
Fortunately, Bengaluru MMA Club stepped in to help, offering their space at a highly discounted rate. Their generosity gave us the confidence to keep the event alive despite the odds.
Supporting Fighters from Kerala
The situation in Kerala was beyond anyone’s control, and we understood the challenges it posed for fighters from the region. To support them, we refunded registration fees for all fighters from Kerala. This decision came with financial repercussions, but we believed it was the right thing to do.
To ensure they don’t miss out, we’re offering Kerala fighters an opportunity to participate in our next event. Their commitment to Muay Thai deserves every chance to shine.
The Championship in Bengaluru: Resilience in Action
Despite the abrupt change, the championship in Bengaluru turned out to be a remarkable event. Fighters from Karnataka rose to the occasion, delivering spectacular performances. Though smaller than planned, the competition was fierce, highlighting the dedication and passion of the athletes.
The atmosphere was one of unity and resilience. The local Muay Thai community rallied behind the event, creating an electric energy that fueled the fighters. Their cheers and support proved that the spirit of the sport remained strong.
Looking Ahead: Lessons Learned
This championship will be remembered not just for the fights but for how the community came together during adversity. We learned valuable lessons about adaptability, safety, and the power of support. These values are integral to Muay Thai and shone brightly throughout the event.
As we plan for future events, these lessons will guide us. No matter the challenges, we’re committed to ensuring Muay Thai continues to thrive in our region.
